Each wood destroying pest requires different treatment methods to eradicate the targeted pest. Below are types of treatments and recommendations used for each type of wood destroying pest we treat for:
- Subterranean Termites
- Drywood Termites
- Dampwood Termites
- Wood Boring Beetles
- Carpenter Ants
- Carpenter Bees
_________________________
-Primary Recommendation-
-Chemically treat soil with a registered termiticide adjacent to foundation walls, piers and vertical pipes both in crawlspace and exterior perimeter of structure.
-Secondary Recommendation-
-Chemically treat locally area approximately ten feet all directions around infestation with a registered termiticide to control subterranean termites, and remove all shelter tubes. The treatment methods may include drilling of concrete slabs, walkways, patios, etc and into finish wall coverings.
To meet Structural Pest Control Board requirements, our "Primary" recommendation for the control of subterranean termites is to treat the entire perimeter of the structure to provide a chemical barrier in the control of the termite infestation. A "Secondary" recommendation would be to chemically treat the area around the infestation only. The Secondary recommendation is considered substandard to the Primary recommendation as reinfestation can occur in other areas after treatment.
-Primary Recommendation-
-Tarp, seal and fumigate with the lethal gas, Vikane.
(NOTE: While care and caution will be exercised by fumigation crews, no responsibility is taken for possible damage to roof, TV antennae, shrubbery & plants around building. Occupants should make arrangements to be away from the property for a period of approximately 3-4 days. Any preparation work involved will be owner’s responsibility and at owner’s expense.)
-Secondary Recommendation-
-Locally treat area of infestation with a registered termiticide(s).
-The treatment methods may include drilling of wood members with liquid, paste or dust pesticide applications.
To meet Structural Pest Control Board requirements, our "Primary" recommendation for the control of drywood termites is to fumigate the entire structure. A "Secondary" recommendation would be to chemically treat locally the infected area only. The Secondary recommendation is considered substandard as the Primary recommendation as reinfestation can occur in other areas after treatment or the treat may not be as effective as a fumigation
Dampwood termites will only infested wet or wet and decayed wood. No chemical treatments are necessarily needed. Removal of the decayed wood, correction of the moisture source is needed. Broadcast spraying the area after damaged wood is removed with Tim-bor as a barrier from future infestation
- Tarp, seal and fumigate with the lethal gas, Vikane.
(NOTE: While care and caution will be exercised by fumigation crews, no responsibility is taken for possible damage to roof, TV antennae, shrubbery & plants around building.)
Occupants should make arrangements to be away from the property for a period of approximately 4-5 days. Any preparation work involved will be owner’s responsibility and at owner’s expense.
Although the fumigation is similar to drywood termite fumigation, 5X the amount of Vicane is needed to penetrate wood and kill the larvae thereby tripling the cost of what a fumigation for drywood termites would cost
Treatment of carpenter ants require the same treatment as typical household ants. Our recommendation would be to contact a Branch 2 pest control Company that treats household pests such as ants, cockroaches, mice and bedbugs.
Carpenter Bees drill a hole in wood and lay an egg. These bees are very noisy, are black but have no stinger. The holes in wood are as large as the bee. The nest can be locally treated with simple pesticides but its important to patch the hole to prevent reinfestation.
